Its half way through January already, without wanting to tempt fate maybe, just maybe, the worst of winter is behind us, and there’s lot to look forward to. Not least the annual Irthlingborough £1 or less sale next Saturday…. All those wonder things that you only dreamed of owning but just seems a bit pricey at the last five fetes, bazaars and coffee mornings can all be yours, for a greatly reduced rate. All on a first come first served basis…. Get them whilst they hot!
Tomorrow are service reflects upon the third epiphany (the moment of revelation) which is mentioned in our eucharistic prayer at this time of year. The Wedding of Cana, when Jesus performed his first miracle, the changing of water into wine. Which as the prayer says is a changing of sorrow into joy. It has always struck me as somewhat significance that of all the times and places and things that Jesus could of done for a first miracle, changing water into wine at a party is quite something. There is something so very human about it, and of course so very compassionate to save the shame and disgrace the bride and groom would have faced. Yet as the story goes on to say, this was his first sign , and his disciples believed in him…. In saying that I guess it challenges us too, what makes us believe?
