Giving financially to the church is an integral part of our Christian faith. God loves a cheerful giver, and he wants us to share what he has given to us so that we can help to grow His Kingdom here on earth. The best way to support your churches is through regular giving, which you can set up through the parish giving scheme (linked below)
“You will be enriched in every way to be generous in every way, which through us will produce thanksgiving to God.”
2 Corinthians 9.11
Why do we need your financial support?
Your gifts help fund our churches’ ministry in the Nene Crossings Benefice. They pay for the clergy, training of lay leaders, toddler groups, a bereavement café, the heating and lighting in the church, and the maintenance of our graveyards. Your donations also fund the upkeep of our historic buildings; we don’t receive any government support for this. The list goes on and on. Part of the money given to us goes to support the Diocese, which is an organisation that pays for and supports the clergy as well as the wider mission of the church in Northamptonshire, Rutland and Peterborough; this money is referred to as our Parish Share. You can find out more about the Parish share and the costs involved in the document below.
What’s the impact of your giving?

There are lots of things that happen in church behind the scenes; we are not just in the business of Sunday. We provide support in a variety of ways throughout the week, some of which you might have benefited from.
We undertake baptisms, weddings and funerals. Beyond that, we provide ongoing support to individuals, especially the bereaved. Our bereavement café (Pete’s Café) has provided a space where people can meet and support each other after a bereavement. This helps to combat loneliness, especially when someone has lost a spouse or partner.

We support families. We have SPUFs (St Peter’s Under Fives), a toddler group that has created a place where parents, grandparents, and little ones meet, sing songs, and support each other. Becoming a new parent or having another child dramatically changes a person’s life, and SPUFs is a place where parents can support each other. We also have Bubble Church, our Sunday service for little ones and their families. Not only have your gifts enabled us to fund the start-up costs of this, but they have also meant that the team leading Bubble Church have been able to attend training and events where they can meet other Bubble Church leaders.
We support the unwell and the dying. We often travel to local hospitals or visit people in their homes to give support when they are unwell or at the end of their lives. This part of our ministry is essential because, as a church, we have to look after each other from life’s first breath until its last.
We give ourselves. We donate to local charities every other month (we make a donation every two months). We have given money to many charities, such as the Riding for the Disabled Association, the Mothers Union holiday food bag project, and the Never Alone Project. Our Parochial Church Council (PCC) makes decisions on donations, and if you have a charity you think we should consider, then talk to one of the clergy or church wardens.
Your gifts also contribute to the wider work of the Diocese through our giving of Parish Share. This covers not only the costs of the clergy but also supports other churches across Northamptonshire, Rutland, and Peterborough. The document below explains more about Parish Share.
How is the money managed?

Each church has its own treasurer, who is elected at the Annual Parochial Church Meeting (APCM) and is a member of the PCC. All financial decisions are discussed at this level. You can ask questions of the PCC members or the clergy at any time.
Each church publishes a set of accounts, which are available before the APCM. We have elected Sidespeople who are the only people in the church allowed to collect money on behalf of the church.
Our contactless giving machine and parish giving page are secure, and all cash donations are handled by the Sidespeople, Churchwardens and Treasurer.
