Good Morning everyone,
Well, if you receive this we have hopefully enter a brave new world of sharing emails, via our church database system! Fr Josh and I have been working hard to get things organised and GDPR compliant and rejigging our website to also make it easier to use and with information that is needed when folk contact us… many of you might well be surprised to know our primary contact especially about baptisms and wedding is via our website nowadays. And certainly, when it comes the festivals that is where folk generally look for in for about service times etc. (Obviously when I say Fr. Josh and I, what I mean is Fr. Josh with me giving unhelpful suggestions from a distance whilst he does the actual work)!
The bank holiday is upon us so let’s hope for fair weather. Certainly, as I sit here writing this, there is blue skies and sunshine, let’s hope it remains. Monday will be the May Fayre in Irthlingborough, and we hope to officially open the Coronation Memorial Garden at the start. The Great and the Good will assemble with the May King and Queen at the Garden at about 12:50pm, when it will be opened and dedicated, and then as per tradition will processes up to Parsons Green for the crowning of the May Monarchs and the general Merriment to begin at 1pm.
At the moment there are 34 roses in place, and over the coming years we will hope to plant more in memories of departed loved ones. Should you want to add to this, pleas speak to Fr. John who will direct you as to how this can be done.
Tickets are still available for the Springtime Concert Choral Concert at All Saints, Great Addington on 17th May by Sound Sensation in aid of the Church Roof Appeal. Pease contact either Fr John or the Churchwardens for details.
And finally, just a heads up, it is something of a year of anniversaries this year which we are hoping to mark on St Peter’s Day this year 30th June. We hope to have a single service in the benefice on tis day followed by a BBQ/Garden Party at the Rectory, as we celebrate 30 years of June’s service as a Reader, Revd Mich’s promotion from Curate to Assistant Priest and Fr. John’s 25 years as a priest. Please do ear mark this in your diaries!
Love and prayers
Fr. John
